First impressions are always vital in the job hunting and interview process. Malcom Gladwell, author of Blink, the Power of Thinking Without Thinking, believes that, "The human brain is capable of making instant judgments with great precision." In his book, he presents evidence that, "A decision made in literally the blink of an eye can be just as correct as months of mental analysis." Come put your interview skills to the test and get exposure, and feedback from career services staff and faculty during Speed Interviewing.
The session will focus on a discussion of accepting the realty of non-permanence and ever-present change in all aspects of life. I will lead a discussion on this theme as it relates to the situation the students are likely presently addressing with their entry into the university. I will also lead them in a few experiential activities and provide them with some resources they can use to support themselves.
